ADD, ASV C-Target 9
UK-based unmanned marine vehicle specialist ASV has delivered the first two of four 9 m unmanned surface vessel (USV) targets on order for South Korea's Agency for Defense Development (ADD).
Contracted through ASV's South Korean industry partner GigaRF in early 2013, the C-Target 9 platforms will be used by the ADD to support a programme of weapon system testing.
ASV's C-Target product line covers a series of USV target vehicles, ranging from 3.3-13 m in length, using a foam-filled repairable aluminium hull, and hardened steel protection for engine and electronics enclosures. As well as supporting the evaluation of new weapon systems and doctrine, the C-Target vessels can also be employed as fast inshore attack craft (FIAC) surrogates, providing operators with realistic FIAC threats against which to train.
